Plan the Bear Lake corridor first

Bear Lake is an easy name to put on an itinerary. The important part is arranging access and checking conditions before the drive.

Check entry rules

Rocky Mountain National Park uses timed-entry reservations in parts of the busy season. The Bear Lake Road corridor has its own reservation option and hours; read the official page for your specific visit date.

An entrance pass and a timed-entry reservation are separate things when the reservation program is in effect. Confirm both before you set out.

Give the day room

Review current conditions and shuttle information before choosing a trailhead. Parking and weather can change your plan, especially at higher elevations.

Pick one primary walk and one fallback. If access or weather changes, a flexible park day is better than forcing a specific trail.

Plan with the park: NPS timed-entry permit system · NPS Bear Lake Road corridor. Rules and conditions can change; check the official pages before traveling.
